My bees are kept deep in the Welsh countryside in ancient fields I’m re-wilding and an orchard of ancient and rare Welsh apple varieties that provides food for the bees.
I’m a beekeeper and glassblower, I combine these ancient crafts by infusing the honey I gather from my native Welsh black bees with the glass gathered from my furnace to create unique pieces of glassart.
There are striking similarities in beekeeping and glassblowing from the flowing movements of the glassblower and the beekeeper, to the naturally flowing movement of the molten glass and the honey,
"The resulting reaction of each infusion encapsulates and preserves traces from the bees in patterns of bubbles locked into the glass ensuring that each piece is unique".
